The Department of Economics and Management awards the academic title of Doctor of Economics and Business Engineering (Dr. rer.pol). Successful postgraduates have shown through their postgraduate work and final thesis, that they are capable of independent research work and of clearly presenting the results of their research on their chosen Economics and Business Engineering theme.
Entry requirements for postgraduate courses are successfully gaining a Master's degree in Economics and Business Engineering at university, or a recognised equivalent degree qualification. Particularly highly qualified graduates of universities of applied sciences and vocational academies can also apply to do a postgraduate study course. However in this instance they have to take an aptitude test.
There are opportunities for postgraduate studies in every study and research field offered at the Department of Economics and Management. In preparation for the doctoral course a professor or university/private lecturer from the Department should agree to support the dissertation. Applications should be sent to the individual institutes.
The application to be accepted as a doctoral student can be submitted in writing to the Department of Economics and Management, as long as the admission requirements for doctoral studies are fulfilled. Registration for the purpose of postgraduate studies is not necessary at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, but is possible in certain circumstances.
More information on the requirements, how to apply and the doctoral course can be found in the current doctoral degree course scheme.
