Diploma thesis at another faculty
Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the Industrial Engineering and Management and Technical Economics degree programs, diploma thesis topics offered by institutes of other faculties at the University of Karlsruhe (TH) may also be of interest to students on these degree programs.
The Diploma Examination Regulations (DPO) expressly allow this possibility, but require the approval of the Examination Board.
Against this background, the following should be noted:
- The preparation of a diploma thesis at another faculty of the University of Karlsruhe (TH) must always be applied for via the examination board of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics.
- At least the second supervision must be carried out by an authorized representative of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics.
Addressee: Chairman of the Examination Board of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics
Submission: Examinations Office of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics
Processing time: 4 working days.
Special cases
Different regulations apply for some faculties and institutes.
- Diploma thesis at the Faculty of Computer Science: The topic must be agreed with the AIFB in advance. If approved by the AIFB, the initial supervision is always the responsibility of the AIFB. The thesis no longer has to be approved by the Examination Board.
- First supervision without approval, no second supervision obligation within the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics: For some institutes outside the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics, there is no requirement for approval for supervision of the thesis. There is also no principle here that at least the second supervision must be within the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics. This applies in particular to:
- wbk (Prof. Fleischer, Prof. Schmidt),
- IFL (Prof. Arnold),
- legal institutes (Prof. Dreier, Prof. Sester),
- All institutes that offer teaching in the curricular field of Computer Science "Applications of Computer Science to Engineering".
In all the special cases mentioned above, however, the application form for admission to the thesis must be submitted to the Faculty's Examinations Office.
